Interview Tomorrow! WOOOHOOO!

I am so excited right now y'all! I just talk to the owner of Dogwood Acres and have an interview tomorrow at 1PM! I am beyond thrilled! God has given me a passion for animals so to work with animals all day just sounds amazing! I also view it as a service to the owners and take pet care seriously! Oh man i am so blessed and in awe of God right now! Just last night I was praying "Please God let Dogwood Acres or any other job that I have applied to call" and man does God have perfect timing! Audrey (who is the owner of the facility) called at 10AM this morning! I then called her back at 11AM but got the machine (as they are closed from 11-2) then I called her again around 2:30PM and BAM scheduled an interview! And man does she sound nice! I am so excited to meet her face to face! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow around 1PM! Thank you! Thank you!

Job Oh Please Pick Me!

Oh my gosh! The place that I really want to work just called. It is like a kennel/doggie daycare! I am about to call them back! Wish me luck!

Embracing the Face: Loving the Skin I'm In!

So, this is a somewhat recent picture that I have taken of myself. I do have makeup on in this photo but my camera and my phone aren't working right now so this picture and some of the ones below of me in the past will have to do.

To be honest I have always been self conscious about my face simply because I have had acne my whole life (despite what the photo shows). I have always thought that to be popular or to fall in love it was based a lot on looks, but over the past 3 years I have learned to love myself. Especially that fact that I am tall and skinny. I have learned to love my dimples, my nose, my smile, my beautiful green eyes, and my full eyebrows. Once you learn to love yourself and build your confidence others will be drawn to you! I am still waiting for my prince charming to come but I am not letting my imperfections hold me back from living!

I am learning to love my hair. I shaved my head in March to remember my mothers struggle with cancer which took her life in 2006. It was a really empowering experience but quite sad how people treat you differently when you don't fit the norm. But it built a lot of my confidence and love for myself. Now that my hair is growing out I can't wait to put some hair accessories in it! Its in a awkward length (still too short to put up) but it will get there soon!

I am going to the 5PM showing so I am super duper excited! One I love the story of Annie and I love to see it live (as in a play!) and who doesn't love food! I am sure I will have more to say about this later on tonight!! Stay tuned!

Thankful For What I Got!

Despite everything that is going on I am thankful for what I got! Thankful for the Richards family for giving me a place to live and food. Thankful for the many people that allow me to walk there dogs and the children that allow me to babysit them. I am thankful for the things that I have such as possessions. I am thankful for this blog and the many followers and readers I have. I am thankful to have a car (though right now it is not working). I am thankful for the amazing unique life story God have written for me. I am SOOOOOO SOOOOO THANKFUL FOR JESUS CHRIST FOR SAVING ME FROM MY SINS.

On a side note, I just received an email from a woman that is looking for a nanny in December so I am pretty excited maybe to have a steady job. Have an interview tomorrow to be a dog walker too. So, I am so excited. If you need a side job check out care.com it is an amazing website!

Today Tuesday Today

Alright! So, despite the rainy depressing weather ALL DAY LONG!!! I managed to make it out of the house. I went to the SPCA and another doggie daycare/boarding facility to apply for a job. Hopefully I hear back soon. I also found out that Verizon has turned off my cell phone because I am 3 months late on the bill. Which makes the whole application process a little tricky as I have to use another number.

When I returned home I was told that me and my friend were to get some milk. So, I took a quick shower and decided I would drive my car this time (as Brian had driven earlier today). I noticed my car wasn't unlocking and I had to unlock it manually, also noticed my light didn't come on when I opened the door and when I put the key in and tried to turn it nothing happened. Just what I need right now. So, apparently because I didn't use it for about a week or so and because the weather became cooler we think that the battery died. Hopefully, tomorrow we can figure out the problem (as I have an interview for a dog walking job at 1:30PM). I am hoping that we can fix it without buying something because I can't afford ANYTHING right now.

On a side note, thank you all of my followers I saw I had a new addition which brightened my day! Thanks.

You Gotta Watch This!

I just finished watching this movie which is amazing. I have found that most of the movies based on true stories/events are always great! It definitely makes you think about how far you would go for your family. It is sad just how many innocent people are convicted every day and how many guilty people walk free. If you are looking for a good movie to watch I encourage you to watch this movie!

Finally Made A Button!!!!! Check It Out!

WOOHOO!!!! I finally created a button! I am looking for button swap sponsors. I am a newbie at hosting sponsors but I think I got the overall hang of it! Comment and let me know if you are interested in doing! I would love to have at least 5-7 sponsors a month, with guest posts, a couple of giveaways and definitely shout outs to my sponsors. I am looking for a good variety of blogger types so don't think that your blog is not in my loop of topics because I am no judge. Like I said comment below or email me at unmaskedlife@yahoo.com I would so love to swap buttons with you and sponsor you!

Hope everyone has an amazing Monday! I am sure I will post more in a bit as I have been up all night doing blog things and watching movies! Yeah, I have been having the worst time falling asleep at night. Thank goodness I have some amazing blogs to follow!

Read Your Bookshelf: Book #2

Book number two is called Bruchko by Bruce Olson. I got this book in high school (I think). I started it but didn't finish it. So, that is my goal! Read it all the way through! To give you a little insight into what the book is about here is what the front and part of the back says: (Front): The astonishing true story of a 19-year-old American-his capture by the Motilone Indians and his adventures in Christianizing the Stone Age tribe. (Back): What happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians?

Excerpts to come soon! :)

Read Your Bookshelf: Book #1

So, I decided to start a challenge for myself. To read all the books on my bookshelf all the way through. There are plenty of books that I have purchase in hopes of reading, some are unopened, some are started, and there are some that I have read. For the ones I have read I will be skipping (excepts for my favorites). Throughout  my reading the books I will post excerpts from them. As I am a writer and has always found something interesting about the way in which other writers write. I will also post any words I didn't know.

I started reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer today. This is what the front of the book says, "In April 1992 a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. His name was Christoper Johnson McCandless. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter..." It is a small book not too terrible long, 203 pages. I am already on page 89 and counting.

Here are some excerpts from the book which I highlighted throughout my read thus far:
  • Muskeg: swamp (pg. 4)
  • The bush is an unforgiving place, however, that cares nothing for hope or longing (pg. 4)
  • Amalgam: mixture (pg.10)
  • Ore: mineral (pg. 10)
  • Perafrost: frozen water (pg. 10)
  • Cordillera: mountain system (pg. 11)
  • Contumacious: rebellious (pg. 11)
  • Convivial: friendly (pg. 18)
  • ...odyssey in the fullest sense of the word, an epic journey that would change everything (pg. 22)
  • Tamarisk: ornamental trees/shrubs (pg. 27)
  • Allowing his life to be shaped  by circumstance (pg. 29)
  • It is the experiences, the memories, the great triumphant joy of living to the fullest extent in which real meaning is found (pg. 37)
  • Garrulous: talkative (pg. 40)
  • Rheumy: unhealthy (pg. 42)
  • Calisthenics: muscle toning exercise (pg. 45)
  • No man ever followed his genius till it misled him. Though the result were bodily weakness, yet perhaps no one can say that the consequences were to be regretted, for these were a life in conformity to higher principles. If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal,-that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. . . . The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched. -Henry David Thoreau, Walden, Or Life In The Woods (pg. 47)
  • Hegira:  an emigration escape/flight (pg. 48)
  • ...a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt. So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yest will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. (pgs. 56-57)
  • Don't settle down and sit in one place. Move around, be nomadic, make each day a new horizon. (pg. 57)
  • You are wrong if you think Joy emanates only or principally from human relationships.God has placed it all around us. It is in everything and anything we might experience. We just have to have the courage to turn against our habitual lifestyle and engage in unconventional living. (pg. 57)
  • The only person you are fighting is yourself and your stubbornness to engage in new circumstances (pg. 57)
  • Don't hesitate or allow yourself to make excuses. Just get out and do it. Just get out and do it. You will be very, very glad that you did. (pg. 58)
  • Conjecture: speculation (pg. 64)
  • Rapport: understanding (pg. 65)
  • Chastity is the flowering of man; and what are called Genius, Heroism, Holiness, and the like, are but various fruits which succeed it. -Thoreau's Walden, "Higher Law" (pg. 66)
  • Succor: help (pg. 66)
  • Opprobrium: the disgrace incurred by conduct considered outrageously shameful (pg. 71)
  • Hubris: arrogance (pg. 72)
  • Hovel: hut (pg. 74)
  • Posit: assume (pg. 77)
Alright! So, it took me 2 days to finish it! This book is really good. Can't wait to see the movie.

URInvited

Despite not being able to sleep until about 6oclock in the morning which set me back on waking up until 12:45PM, didn't ruin my day. I got on here and found out I have a new follower which I am pretty stoked about! I read her blog and absolutely love everything she writes about! (Now am her follower!) Went upstairs and had a coke for brunch ha ha if that counts. It seems now a days I don't eat until dinner time, which I am sure is not at all good for you, but I find I am more thirsty then hungry during the day. Came back downstairs to my room and turned on some music (my play list which has a little bit of everything!) and started to read some blogs. I find reading blogs amazingly relaxing.

I wanted to invite my readers to something.

I love to get snail mail and so I was thinking it might be fun to become pen pals with my readers. If you would like to become my pen pal please email me at servantshands88@aol.com

Hope to hear from you soon!

Thank You!

Thank you to my 2 followers! I hope to have more soon! I am following both of you! And absolutely am in love with your blogs! Thanks again for following!

Just joined this blog party! Hopefully it will motivate me to blog. And it will help me get followers and read other blogs! I am excited!

Here are my PARTY QUESTION ANSWERS:
(1) What's the nerdiest/geekiest/weirdest thing about you?
Okay, one night a couple of years ago I was with my best friend, Brian, at a pier. It was pretty late and cold. I was looking out on the water and saw flashing. When I asked what it was, he replied, "Oh, that, its a blinkin' fish. You didn't know about Blinkin' Fish you should google it when you get home" Me being the gullible person I am replied, "REALLY! I have never heard of them." Then, he looked up and explained that it was actually a plane flying overhead. We laughed and I felt like a complete moron. Well, guess what I did when I got home I googled it! HA HA. It came up that fish do blink but so does everything else. what a horrific blonde moment.

Tonight's Lil Things

I painted my nails to try and brighten my day! They are beautiful. A golden brown color. Very professional look. I am watching the show Disappeared which is interesting but terribly sad just how many people are missing/have disappeared.

Just ran out to Safeway with my roommate, Brian, and we got some soda and snacks. Here is a picture of the Coke can and one of the snacks we bought!

Cute and yummy! This definitely is a great way to end a depressing day! And the weather outside is AMAZING! Also, the moon looks amazing! Spooky yet beautiful! Go check it out.

Life Today

Whenever I try to write I am overcome with imperfections. Which normally doesn't bother me but I am so beaten down that I feel like I can't even please myself. I am going to challenge myself to take one photo a day that represents how I feel. I think it might be fun. Writing has always been a passion of mine. And so has photography. I would love to be a event planner/wedding photographer. How much fun would that be?

I also am going to start reading most of the unread books on my bookshelf. I am also going to start journaling anything and everything that I am feeling and going through. I really don't want to hold it in, as I really don't want to become addicted to cutting again. I am just going to change my attitude and outlook on life.

I am stressed because the family I live with might be losing their house, they just lost their job (as three of them worked at the same job and the other family member is retired). So, I am kinda stressed out about what the future holds. I know that I should let it go and just surrender it to God. But it is so hard. I want to it just is going to take me some time. Surrendering little by little. I don't know if we will lose the house and if we do where I will live. I am trying to be strong for the family I live with but I seem to just add to the stress and fail at being a good friend or housemate. Its hard. Trying to see the beauty in life. Please understand.

Thank You.

Do You Ever...

Do you ever feel like something is missing? Like there has to be more to life than this? Maybe its me but I feel like I have lost my dreams... They fell like leaves to the floor. Do you ever feel like that? Like nothing you do is right or has meaning? I want MY ART and MY WORDS and MY PHOTOS to have meaning.... so why does it feel like whatever I do I fail at?

Yesterday, for instance, I sat at my laptop and tried to write a new blog post. I also tried to make an entry in my art journal. And I couldn't I was so fed up and frustrated that I just felt numb. I really think it is because I am not involved in any workshops or classes (but to be honest I don't have money to be spending on those classes). I just wish there were free workshops I could participate in. Maybe that would inspire me to be creative again and if I see other peoples artwork that would also be inspiring to me. I just wish there was a free art journal workshop I could participate in.

Do you ever look outside and wish that you could fly? Fly in those big fluffy clouds. Float away to another day. Do you ever wish you were on the dock of the bay? Could anyone else feel this way?

~ This Is Me ~

Hey Y'all.
My name is Amber. I am 23 years old and have been through a lot of experiences. I love God and am so thankful that He saved me! I am so glad that God has been there throughout everything I have experienced. I am blessed with an amazing family and great group of friends. I am a writer, photographer, artist! So, you can look forward to seeing and reading some of me. I love journaling have about 50 journals on my bookshelf some filled and others empty. I am not the best drawer but I try. I love abstract stuff so most of my photography and art is abstract. I like making lists! It helps me keep organized and be productive.  I am the messiest organized person I know. I am shy. I would rather write something then talk in front of people. But was called the loudest quiet person in high school. I am loyal to my friends and family! I love to go on Flickr and upload things and participate in groups! My goal in life is to touch others. It is the least I can do. I am passionate about helping causes like: Suicide Prevention, To Write Love On Her Arm, Cancer Awareness, Aids in Africa, Autism Awareness, St. Judes Children Hospital. I like to help people. I am an excellent listener so if you ever need a friend I am here. I adore cats and dogs! I adore children. What I want to do with my life is to live it to the fullest! I love to be followed on my blog (please follow me)! In return I love to read others blogs so if you follow me I will follow you!

Be Blessed!
